Relaunch Success Stories
I spent 9 years at a Wall Street law firm and a year and a half at an investment bank in Latin American project finance teams. I worked on complex financings financings for large infrastructure projects such as airports, toll roads and power plants. When my two children were both toddlers, I decided to take a short career break which ended up being much longer than I expected. I had enjoyed my practice very much and was eager to get back, in the meantime I became very involved in fundraising for my children's school and other organizations and I started a company importing children´s clothing from Colombia.
When I started thinking about returning to work, I attended Harvard Business School's The New Path program and a career reentry seminar at the New York City Bar Association. I also read Back on the Career Track and joined iRelaunch. My husband´s family is originally from Colombia, during my career break I spent several months a year there and became involved in real estate transactions, consulting and not for profit organizations which helped me build an extensive network in the legal and financing communities. Last summer I moved permanently with my children to Bogotá and I was able to relaunch my career at a law firm in Bogotá which is very active in international M&A and financing transactions, particularly in my areas of Natural Resources & Energy and Infrastructure. I am still settling in but very excited about the future.
