Relaunch Success Stories
As a chemical engineer with product development experience who was looking to return after a six year career break, I was discouraged about my prospects at first. However, I persevered and utilized my network of former colleagues to help with my job search.
After a three month search, I was offered my dream job as a Product Development Engineer at Printpack, designing innovative packaging for flexible packaging products. I credit a solid resume and stellar reference from a former project leader for helping me clinch the offer. I've been back about six months now and am loving it. My company put me through a training program which was a good technical refresher for me. I also had the opportunity to meet with different department heads so they know who I am and so I can better understand the company culture. Early on, I was put on a significant project which gave me the opportunity to use my research and technical skills as well as learn the Printpack systems. After completing the training I was given additional responsibilities.
At home, we had to figure out the best way to divide chores among my husband, my daughter, and myself. So far my family has been very supportive and patient with me as I relearn how to manage everything. I had to buy almost all new clothes and shoes....which was a little bit of a bonus!
