In 1993, we formed the first job-share arrangement at Accenture and continued this successfully until we left in 2002. When we thought about returning to the workforce, we explored options by networking with our friends and neighbors, and ultimately decided on an opportunity back at Accenture, as it allowed us to leverage our global HR expertise and to quickly take on challenging work. The transition back went fairly smoothly, aside from the realization that lotus notes was now obsolete and scheduling meetings was no longer a call to our secretary! Our job-share arrangement, in which we work primarily virtually for 15-20 hours a week each, has enabled us to fulfill our dreams of mothering our active families, while continuing to grow and expand professionally. The extra bonus is a lifetime friendship.
